Was RoboCop actually filmed in Detroit?

Short answer
Mostly no. RoboCop is set in a privatized, near-future Detroit, but much of the movie was photographed in Dallas and the surrounding area. Detroit establishing material helped anchor the fiction, while Texas architecture supplied many of the monumental civic spaces audiences remember.
